About the Center for Consciousness Studies

The Center for Consciousness Studies, housed in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, integrates perspectives from philosophy, cognitive sciences, neuroscience, social sciences, medicine, physical sciences, and the arts and humanities. 

The College of SBS also offers a minor in consciousness studies, which is housed in the Department of Philosophy. 

The long-running Science of Consciousness conference is offered by the Arizona Astrobiology Center

The center’s leadership reflects its interdisciplinary focus. The Center for Consciousness Studies is directed by Jonathan Weinberg, professor in the Department of Philosophy in the College of SBS. Its associate director is John Allen, distinguished professor in the Department of Psychology in the College of Science.
